“a musical force to be reckoned with”
“one of the most exciting new voices in music”
“UPSAHL is ready to make a global name of her own”
“UPSAHL exudes an infectious sense of confidence that provides an aura of empowerment for her listeners, one so strong that pressing replay becomes increasingly irresistible.”
“UPSAHL has all the makings to be a household name. With addictive hooks and a passionate voice, her songs are equally unique and soulful. An expert storyteller, she paints perfect imagery of the stories told within her lyrics. Best of all, it can evoke a wide spectrum of feelings.”
April 28, 2023 – Today, UPSAHL officially announces THE PHX (Phoenix) TAPES, a new project that will consist of regular paired (SIDE A/SIDE B) releases from the pop iconoclast. Today she debuts volume one (V1) – two new songs “GOOD GIRL ERA” (SIDE A) and “CONDOMS” (SIDE B) via Arista Records. Listen to the tracks HERE.
The SIDE A/SIDE B release format pays homage to 90s-era mixtapes and illustrates the duality of UPSAHL. “GOOD GIRL ERA” is upbeat, infectious, and invites the listener to chant along as she voices her frustration with green juice, pilates, and trying to be “good.” The accompanying video is a cartoonish, Jekyll and Hyde-esque battle between the two sides of UPSAHL (WATCH HERE). “CONDOMS” is a stripped-down melody that’s emotional yet comical, putting her vocal prowess at the forefront as she sings about “burying her problems into no-name lovers.” The official video featuring a gritty late-night trip to the convenience store will debut on Monday, May 1.

“I had been writing so many songs since the beginning of the year and started sharing them with friends the way I shared music when I was a kid growing up in Phoenix. Sort of like how mixtapes used to be passed around,” UPSAHL explains the process of the mixtape curation. “This release is different from my past releases because there was no specific purpose during my writing process. I feel so free in making music right now, and everything I’m creating feels like an experiment. There are no boundaries, no genres, no lines that I am too scared to cross.”

UPSAHL prepares to begin the next leg of her tour. It kicks off tomorrow night (April 29) in Tampa, FL at Crowbar, before stopping in major markets including Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, and Toronto, Canada. She will wrap the US leg in Indianapolis, IN at the HiFi Annex on May 11. UPSAHL will perform at several international festivals before making her Red Rocks debut in Morrison, CO on June 20 with Oliver Tree. These tour dates follow on the heels of her astrology-themed EP, Sagittarius, timed to Sagittarius season. On the EP, UPSAHL offers listeners an introspective glimpse into her dynamic personality and explores the multifaceted experience of being a Sagittarius. A purveyor of self-love and confidence, it revolves around themes of acceptance, tapping into inner strength, and resilience. Each song on the project taps into a different trait intrinsic to the fire sign. Read more via Rolling Stone HERE

ABOUT UPSAHL:
Early in her career, UPSAHL released songs that gained much-deserved recognition throughout the Phoenix music scene. As a graduate of the Arizona School for the Arts, she went on to ignite a groundswell of fan adoration and tastemaker praise by way of numerous indie alternative gems. “Can You Hear Me Now” achieved a palpable viral buzz followed by the widely praised single “Drugs,” which has been used in nearly two million TikTok videos, reaching #6 on the Viral Chart and the #1 Sound on the Trends Chart. 2020 was a standout year where UPSAHL released her second EP Young Life Crisis, which Billboard crowned as one of the Top 25 Pop albums of the year. UPSAHL undertook her first co-write on “Good in Bed” for Dua Lipa’s GRAMMY Award-winning blockbuster, Future Nostalgia. She’s since lent her pen to Madison Beer, Mike Shinoda, Alan Walker, Anne-Marie and Little Mix, and notably co-wrote three songs on Renee Rapp’s latest EP Everything To Everyone to name a few. Most recently, UPSAHL joined forces with GAYLE on her track “e-z,” was featured on the star-studded film Bullet Train soundtrack, with the song “My Time to Shine, and was featured on NGHTMRE’s single “ATMOSPHERE” from debut DRMVRSE.
In the fall of 2021, UPSAHL released her debut album Lady Jesus, anointing the singer as one of People Magazine’s “Talented Emerging Artists Making Their Mark in 2022” and “a musical force to be reckoned with” (Nylon). It was followed by the powerful statement-making “Monica Lewinsky,” a feminist anthem, in addition to “Antsy,” and “Into My Body” off her star-sign inspired EP Sagittarius. The EP provides an introspective glimpse into her fiery persona and pays homage to her sign. The project follows on the heels of UPSAHL’s highly successful debut headline tour, where she sold out venues across the US, and then continued on an expansive international tour, which included Australia, the UK, and Europe. She will take the new songs to the stage, during her upcoming additional U.S. dates and Tove Lo supporting shows. Her high-octane performance style has also earned her spots on major festival lineups, including Lollapalooza, and tour support for acts including Olivia O’Brien, Fletcher, Yungblud, PVRIS, BROODS, and K. Flay.
