SUNSETTO REMINISCES ABOUT LOST FRIENDSHIPS ON NEW SINGLE
“GREEN TXTS”
(May 24th, 2024) – Today, Toronto-based singer, songwriter, and producer sunsetto releases “GREEN TXTS,” a melancholic Alt-Pop track that explores themes of lost connections — “the feeling you get when you try to reach out to someone after a while and you realize they’ve changed their number and are just not the same person anymore,” explains sunsetto.

Few musical artists have the ability to capture today’s zeitgeist the way sunsetto does. “I’m a ‘90s baby so we’ve seen the birth of social media, and we are a bridge between the IRL and URL generations,” sunsetto says, noting that the diverse crop of songs on his forthcoming debut album moves from being nostalgic to futuristic.
Following up his recently released singles “PLANS” and “POTENTIAL,” “GREEN TXTS” further lays the foundation for the emotionally charged next chapter for sunsetto: full-on forward-thinking pop – pulling from an all-over-the-map list of genres such as dance, rap, R&B and modern country.
About sunsetto:
Growing up on Cape Breton Island on Nova Scotia, sunsetto (aka Kyle Mischiek) split his time between music and skateboarding – and cultivated a community through both. After trying (and quitting) guitar and piano lessons, he started to rap and make beats in high school. Honing his pen, he attended several songwriting camps hosted by GRAMMY® and JUNO Award-winning songwriter Gordie Sampson (Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban).
During 2020, he shared a snippet of his single “don’t leave” on Instagram and organically amassed hundreds of thousands of streams. He followed up the initial viral buzz with more singles like “good connection” and “downtown.”
His first releases of the year are a testament to how much he has his finger on the pulse and the heart of a new generation of pop fans. Stay tuned for more new music from sunsetto.
