[August 26, 2022] – Today, multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter, and producer blackbear releases his highly anticipated sixth studio album in loving memory, out now via beartrap/ALAMO/Columbia Records. Executive produced by Travis Barker, blackbear opens up more than ever on the full-length offering, with lyrics of pain, loss and sobriety cutting just as deeply as the chords do. Click here to listen.
Wholeheartedly embracing his alternative side, in loving memory boasts an impressive lineup of guest vocalists who’ve inspired him along the way – from alternative legends Jordan Pundik (Newfound Glory), Anthony Raneri (Bayside) and Bert McCracken (The Used) to mainstream pop-punk phenomenon Machine Gun Kelly. While baring his soul, blackbear has created his most authentic project to date and as Alt Press raves, “the result is an album that expertly pairs nostalgia with modernity.”
“I made an album for me and the fans,” blackbear shares. “I’m in my dream situation because I’m able to put food on other people’s tables by doing what I absolutely love. I’m fulfilling a prophecy that God created for me.”
While gearing up to release in loving memory, blackbear initially bulldozed the way with a high-energy barrage kickstarted by “gfy” featuring multi-platinum selling superstar Machine Gun Kelly, which has received over 32M streams worldwide. Introducing themes behind the album one piece at a time, he followed it up with the more vulnerable “the idea” and punctuated it with a powerful cameo from The Used front man on “toxic energy” (with Bert McCracken) playing homage to his earlier emo days.
blackbear recently appeared on THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN, joined by Travis Barker and Bert McCracken of The Used, with the premiere television performance of “toxic energy.” Watch here.
Fans can soon catch blackbear live as he prepares to embark on his recently announced ‘nothing matters tour’, kicking off September 4 in Atlanta, GA. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will feature 15 exciting dates in North America and feature special guests MOD SUN, State Champs, Waterparks and Heart Attack Man.
