[August 9. 2024] — Dynamic pop singer, songwriter, actress and cultural phenomenon Addison Rae has released her debut single with Columbia Records entitled “Diet Pepsi” alongside steamy new music video available for streaming on all digital platforms today. “Diet Pepsi” marks the beginning of a new era of music for Addison. In addition to being her first release with Columbia Records and her first solo release of 2024, the new track is an unexpected sonic departure from her previously released debut EP “AR.” Recorded in Stockholm, Sweden—home to countless other pop masterpieces before—“Diet Pepsi” was produced by Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd for MXM Productions and written by Addison herself along with Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd.
The music video showcases Addison like fans have never seen her before. Directed by Sean Price Williams and under the creative direction of Mel Ottenberg, Addison is seen in black-and-white cruising down the highway in a steamed up vintage car alongside model/actor Drew Van Acker (Pretty Little Liars) climbing from the front to the backseat as the chorus repeats, “Say you love, say you love, say you love me, losing all my innocence in the backseat,” interpolated with choreography by Danielle Polanco. At the sound of a soda can cracking open, the video transforms into beautiful technicolor for the final chorus of the song.
Addison has been teasing the music video to her millions of followers on social media, first with an Instagram post last week of a snippet and visual of her writing “Diet Pepsi” into a fogged up car window, followed by the official announcement of the video on Wednesday.
The musician first teased new music back in June via Instagram post, when she was fresh off her surprise live musical performance debut at Charli xcx’s sold-out BRAT Tour show in Los Angeles. The two performed their viral track “The von dutch remix with addison rae and a. g. cook,” which is their second musical collaboration following Charli contributing to the remix of Addison’s “2 Die 4,” featured on her debut EP “AR” released in 2023.

Most recently going viral on Charli xcx’s “Von Dutch” remix, Addison Rae has become one of the most recognizable young stars in the world. Last year, she released her long-awaited debut EP titled AR which features the hit song “2 die 4” feat. Charli xcx.
