OCTOBER 1, 2024 (TORONTO, ON) – The 25th anniversary deluxe edition re-release of Chantal Kreviazuk’s double platinum-selling album Colour Moving and Still will be available this Friday, October 4, on double vinyl and digitally via Sony Music Entertainment Canada. (ORDER HERE / LISTEN HERE)
The Grammy and JUNO Award-winning artist is celebrating the anniversary with a cross-Canada tour, resuming Saturday in her hometown of Winnipeg at the Burton Cummings Theatre. She will also perform in Toronto, where she moved to in 1997, on November 8 at Massey Hall. A full list of dates can be found below and at ChantalKreviazuk.com.
The Colour Moving and Still double LP includes all 10 tracks from the original album remastered, her iconic recording of “Leaving on a Jet Plane” and six previously unreleased live recordings. This is the first time that Colour Moving and Still has ever been made available on vinyl.
As well, the four original music videos from the album (“Far Away,” “Dear Life,” “Before You” and “Leaving on a Jet Plane”) have been remastered and are rolling out this week in HD via Chantal’s YouTube channel (WATCH HERE).
Colour Moving and Still is the follow-up to Kreviazuk’s debut breakthrough album Under These Rocks and Stones, and helped Kreviazuk continue to establish herself as an artist beloved and revered in North America and across the globe, setting her up for an impressive career as both a musician and songwriter that continues today, nearly three decades and counting.
First released on October 5, 1999, Colour Moving and Still features one of Kreviazuk’s biggest songs of her career “Before You,” inspired by her husband Raine Maida, who she married just before the album’s release. Now a seasoned songwriting duo, Kreviazuk and Maida wrote together for the first time for two cuts off this album, “Dear Life” and “Little Things.”
“I look back at the making of this album as such a special time in my life, not just as an artist and musician but as a human being. I was in such a growth spurt embracing the difficulties of life and learning to channel challenges into creativity. I love that I can still hear that process and my maturation happening on each song,” says Kreviazuk.
Chantal is currently putting the finishing touches on her 10th album. More information on the release will be shared in the coming months.
Earlier this year, Anthem Entertainment acquired a catalogue of hit songs written by Kreviazuk, beginning a brand-new partnership between one of the world’s leading independent music companies and the internationally recognized songwriter. The catalogue includes several Kreviazuk cuts, including “In This Life,” “Time” and “Get To You” alongside certified hits and collaborations recorded by Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Drake, Avril Lavigne, Pitbull, Shakira, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood and more.
