TORONTO, ON. – Miranda Lambert earned her third GRAMMY Award Sunday as her universally-lauded Wildcard was named Best Country Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards. She also performed her No. 1 smash hit “Bluebird” during the ceremony. Watch here.
Wildcard is Lambert’s seventh consecutive No. 1 studio album, making her one of only two artists to achieve this feat. Produced by Jay Joyce, Wildcard was declared one of 2019’s best by GQ, Variety, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Slate, Stereogum, Paste, and many more. Entertainment Weekly praised, “Listening to Wildcard…you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll wake up from a blackout-drunk evening next to your two best girlfriends and a freshly dug grave that none of you will speak of again. In short: It rocks,” while GQ echoed “her best start-to-finish body of work to date—a feat, considering her deep, diverse output over the past decade-plus.”
This is Lambert’s second win for Best Country Album, receiving the Award for her No. 1 album Platinum in 2014. She has also previously won Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “The House That Built Me.”
The superstar recently announced her latest project, The Marfa Tapes, in collaboration with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall. Out on May 7 through Vanner Records/RCA Nashville, The Marfa Tapes is a collection of beautifully intimate and raw songs written and recorded together in the tiny, middle-of-nowhere town of Marfa, TX.
