Snotty Nose Rez Kids Unveil Highly Anticipated Album RED FUTURE

(Toronto, ON – September 13, 2024) – Today marks the hotly anticipated release of RED FUTURE, the latest album from Hip-Hop trailblazers Snotty Nose Rez Kids. Listen HERE. The album features a blend of innovative production and compelling collaborations with a prestige roster of Indigenous artists, including the track “PEACHES” (feat.) Princess Nokia, released today as a single and visual.

At the heart of RED FUTURE is a powerful concept rooted in Indigenous futurism. The album envisions a future where the resilience and innovation of Indigenous voices and perspectives are at the forefront. Snotty Nose Rez Kids are inspiring future generations and highlighting the richness of Indigenous culture and imagining a rich Indigenous future. Each track reflects a different facet of this forward-looking perspective, blending traditional influences with cutting-edge sounds.

 Yung Trybez shares:

“RED FUTURE is our contribution to a time where Indigenous excellence is at the forefront, when our people are getting a spotlight and an opportunity to tell our stories in our own way.  The concept of the album is loosely based on the ideas of Indigenous Futurism, it’s us being able to see and visualize a future with ourselves in it, where we’re doing big things in film, fashion, music, politics, medicine and more.”

 Young D explains:

“RED FUTURE is a rap album, but at the same time it’s so much more. We’ve got a lot of voices on the album lending their own genres to the project. It’s more important than ever that our stories are told by us and that’s why we brought twelve Indigenous features to this project. We all come from similar places but add our different perspectives, we all share something in common, but we all have our own stories to tell.”

“We felt this was the perfect time to release this album, with all eyes on what Indigenous people are doing these days, we wanted to release our most creatively ambitious project to date that took us four years to complete. Now is the time, the world is ready to hear what we are capable of.”

About Snotty Nose Rez Kids:

Snotty Nose Rez Kids, the Indigenous Hip-Hop duo hailing from the Haisla Nation in British Columbia, Canada, tore into the music scene in 2016 with unmistakable talent and an unforgettable name. Showing off their lyrical prowess and natural storytelling ability, Yung Trybez and Young D jumpstarted the band with two back-to-back albums: The Average Savage (2017) and Snotty Nose Rez Kids (2018). Their follow-up album, 2019’s Trapline, launched their career with hit “Boujee Natives,” and multiple awards, including their first JUNO Award nomination.

The band took their high voltage live show on the road and clocked 100 shows in six different countries. Their pandemic album, Life After, saw greater industry recognition with multiple music magazine cover stories, strong streaming platform support, playlist cover images, and an Amazon Twitch Channel Takeover. Taking the album on the road, the band toured 80 shows across North America. They received their second JUNO Award nomination in 2022 and performed during the live broadcast.

Their 2022 project, I’M GOOD, HBU? elevated their career to new heights, and saw them receive their fourth Polaris Prize Shortlist, a win for top music video of the year at the Prism Prize Awards for their Beatles-inspired “Damn Right,” and four Western Canadian Music Award nominations, bringing their tally to 14 nominations and 10 wins to date. SNRK have gone on to dominate in Hip-Hop music, most recently achieving their biggest milestone, signing to major label Sony Music Entertainment Canada. SNRK are blazing their own trail, weaving together a musical fabric of hard-hitting lyricism, revealing stories about the struggles they and their people have encountered, empowering protest songs for the front lines, and a humor that keeps even the heaviest of topics something you can vibe to.
