“Tá OK”, one of Brazil’s biggest hits of the year, is about to get even bigger with a remix that celebrates a more than special connection between Duque de Caxias (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Medellín, Colombia. Global superstars Maluma and Karol G added their voices to the single in the new version that has just been released on all digital platforms, in addition to a music video shot in Brussels, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro.
Musically, the remix melody remains filled with funk samples and electronic drumming, but now it has gained the freshness of the unmistakable, caliente rhythm of Reggaeton.
Directed by Phill Mendonça, a renowned director who has over three billion views in his productions and a portfolio of music videos of Anitta, Luan Santana, Melim, Matuê, among other artists, the clip rescues the “2000 Rio Funk” aesthetics, but in a different pack, with a narrative that directly connects all the artists.
The music video revolves around a video call between DENNIS and Maluma, who shot his part in Brussels Germany, that shows that the essence of Carioca Funk exists in every place in the world. Karol G joins the sequence directly from Los Angeles, proving this theory with nuances and references from Brazil. Despite being in different countries, it is possible to notice perfectly that each environment brings a little of the carioca mood with sound wall and lots of dancing.
DENNIS, who is clearly happy with the release, explains how the idea of doing a remix with Maluma and Karol G came about: “Sony Music Brazil´s president is very good friends with Maluma and always talked about him to me. I’ve been planning to go to Sony in Miami for a while, drawing some things to present to the team, even for Maluma, but then came the pandemic and everything stopped. Now as the song “Tá OK” hits the Global charts, I thought: ‘man, I think it’s time, I’ll call Maluma to do the remix with me’. It worked out super well! He loved it, he sent me his voice quickly, and the music was ready in days. We still had Karol G participate in it. I’m a superfan of hers, and we made it possible for them to feature the music video! It is a great achievement and victory for me as an artist and for my career. I am so happy and fulfilled with this release”, says DENNIS.
