Fresh from releasing his latest single, ‘Alive!’, British artist Bakar announces his highly-anticipated second album Halo, set for release on 1st September via Black Butter.
Halo rings in a new era for Bakar. The sonic counterpart to his acclaimed 2018 mixtape BADKID, Bakar can be compared to a modern-day Jack Kerouac on this second album, exploring the dichotomy the young artist feels between the nomadic loneliness of a life constantly on the road and the “lifestyle” of being a musician. Halo will include his latest single, ‘Alive!’, giving listeners a taste of what’s to come from the enigmatic mind of the young Londoner.
The Camden-born-and-bred artist will appear on festival stages in the US and Europe this Summer, including an appearance at Lollapalooza in Chicago and a main stage slot at Reading & Leeds over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Resisting categorisation during his steady growth into the spotlight, Bakar offers all the lyrical prowess of a rapper, the virtuosic poise of a producer, and the pop craft of a singer-songwriter. Born in Camden, North London and raised on Choice FM, RnB CDs, and the Quran, Bakar’s early musical influences spanned from London’s burgeoning grime scene to the Red Hot Chili Peppers and English indie acts like The Maccabees. Bakar propelled into the limelight with his 2018 mixtape BADKID, produced with frequent collaborator Zach Nahome in what has become a fruitful partnership; his US #1 single ‘Hell N Back’ swiftly followed in 2019 – a track currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity.
Following two show-stopping mixtapes cosigns from several members of music royalty, modelling campaigns with Louis Vuitton and Prada, and a single that topped the AAA Billboard chart in the US, he’s now preparing to send shockwaves around the world with the follow-up to his 2022 debut album Nobody’s Home.
Bakar narrates the universal story of love, and the ever-changing human experience through his music, with upcoming second album Halo being his most captivating work yet.
