(June 25, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA) – Today, Modest Mouse returned with their first new album in six years. Their anxiously awaited seventh full-length, The Golden Casket, is out today via Epic Records.

“Whatever he’s playing, it’s good to have Brock’s droll, word-stretching, warping vocal delivery back, together with Modest Mouse’s fondness for odd and explicit song titles and a top-notch band always making interesting music.” – Associated Press

“Twenty-five years after the Pacific Northwest outfit’s winning 1996 debut album, Modest Mouse’s latest set provides offbeat and engaging riffs; co-founder and front man Isaac Brock remains a fount of trenchant wit and unrestrained individualism.”- Vulture

The Golden Casket surrounds Brock’s aggressive snarls and lisped melodies with a stellar array of tones and textures. – Stereogum

“the group continues to make inscrutable and unpredictable music far removed from the pop charts.” – Variety

“The Pacific Northwesters have turned in a psychedelic pop masterwork that picks up the positivity they first explored with 2004 mega-smash ‘Float On’” – NME 5/5

4/4 – MOJO

“On their seventh album, the band sounds primed for the summer festival season… From the opening salvo of “Fuck Your Acid Trip” to the excellent closing track, “Back to the Middle,” with its glimmering guitar and warm, sentimental tone, every song on ‘The Golden Casket’ feels essential.” – Slant Magazine

The Golden Casket heralds another new chapter in the GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi platinum band’s unpredictable evolution. Produced with Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee in Los Angeles and in Modest Mouse’s studio in Portland,  the album hovers in the liminal space between raw punk power and experimental studio science, frontman Isaac Brock explores themes ranging from the degradation of our psychic landscapes and invisible technology, to fatherhood. The twelve tracks behave like amorphous organisms, undergoing dramatic mutations and mood swings that speak to the chronic tug-of-war between hope and despair that plays out in Brock’s head.
